On Saturday 16th July 2016, we were invited to be the exclusive caterers for the Draper Residents Association 2016 summer festival celebrating Arab culture!
Given the torrential rains that had dominated lunch time talks the week before, we were blessed with sunny skies and lots of hot sunshine on the day which meant the residents were out in force to enjoy!
We enjoyed meeting the wonderful performers dancing Egyptian baladi and telling magical Middle Eastern stories and who can forget the mesmerising tunes from 47Soul with their powerful beats and thought provoking lyrics that had everyone up and dancing – including the Southwark Mayor! From donkey rides and face painting, henna artists to beautiful vegan cakes by roncato1976, there was something for everyone to indulge! And of course – our fluffy falafel wraps vied with the traditional Palestinian dish of chicken maqlooba as the hot favourite to sit down and enjoy on a sunny English day!
